New Furniture With Old Roots

Excited to be hosting this workshop at the end of May! Here are a few more details:

We will cover basic use and safety for tools that folks are more likely to have at home (or have access to) such as circular saw, miter saw, table saw, and bandsaw as well as basics in using handsaws. We will also cover some basics on handplanes, files and rasps for shaping. We’ll go over precision with measurement/ marking and discuss what appropriate levels of precision are depending on the work you’re doing. We will build a garden bench that each individual is able to take home.

There are 5 spots available and one of these is at material cost only. I recognize that not everyone who may benefit from this information has the financial flexibility to do so. I believe in giving back into my community. Understand that I am an individual and not a large company. The vetting process for this is on your honour as I do not have the resources to be checking up on anyone’s story. Tldr: You say you need the leg up, I believe you.

More info will be sent out to participants after signing up including choice of pressure treated vs untreated wood for your bench.

While the shop is equipped with a dust extractor, participants are strongly encouraged to bring PPE including a dust mask or respirator as well as protective headphones or earplugs. They are required to bring and wear safety glasses.

Hope to see you there!
